Do AdBlockers tarnish your website earnings?

There is currently millions of users using an adblock extension. We have touched upon how to remove ads with an adblocker via the discussions, however we haven't discussed if any users here have been effected by the use of adblockers.

If you own and operate a website that uses an advertising platform, either Adsense, or a custom ad platform, I want to know how the adblockers have effected you. Do you actually know if the earnings are down? Do you mind if your visitors have an adblocker? Do you use adblock detection scripts on your websites? How have your earnings progressed since the time adblockers were introduced?

Adblockers definitely reduce the income advertisers could be getting. However I feel that it is a user's right to be able to choose if he wants to view an ad or not. Ads can be so frustrating at times, and this has eventually been a contributing factor to the emergence and popularity of adblockers.

I read an interesting article related to this whereby it seems that since Apple allowed iOS9 to support ad blocking technology, it will lead to a considerable impact on online advertising revenues. Yes I agree that users should be able to choose if they want to view an ad or not. I hate ads and I find them terribly annoying. Even if it means I won't earn as much I don't mind. We get bombarded with ads constantly and I don't blame anyone that blocks ads.

i dont know it exactly ,, but it will tottaly effect your earning undrectly,, because the name are ' the adblockers" so it will block your ads are shown in the visitor's wwebpage.so if doesnot shown it will decrease your earning..
do you also operate some website by using this servics?
such as adsense? how did you do it? can you share some/?
can you let us see your web?

Ads viewership is down. Anything that is an impediment that blocks advertisements retracts from sales and viewership thus reducing income. I heard an interesting news report on NPR, News about this subject. That is a very interesting article. So basically they are saying that if you have an adblocker then prepare for websites to start making you pay to view content to sustain the overhead of the website? That is ridiculous. There wouldn't be a need for AdBlocking if websites didn't load so many flashy, loud, and virussy advertisements. Websites that show these types are ads is the reason why adblocking exist in the first place.

So we are going to be the ones in the future that will need to pay content because we installed a free adblocker? This doesn't sit right with me at all.

I agree with you that it doesn't sit right, but getting the info out of what may be coming in the future and by who is important. Marketers always have to expect a new disruptive technology which, may force you to re-evaluate your business model or operations.

If this were to occur in the future, we'll have no other choice but to change our business model and/or operations. I just hope it wouldn't be the case. As I have mentioned above, the only reason why adblocking exists is to stop those pesky advertisements that are videos that play obnoxiously, loud, and very flashy. Also, let's not forget about viruses.

I just hope sometime in the near future there would be another method instead of having to pay to view a website, that is just insane. I mean if you use your own money to buy a domain you should at least have the funds for overhead, correct?

I have only started using Adsense on my websites in the last month so I have no idea how it would have changed recently. I am not too worried because I don't think Adsense will be a massive earner for me and that is not where I am focusing my energies. I just thought hey why not put Adsense on my websites, it will add in another nice little income stream and that can't hurt.

What are your earning methods if you are not focusing on ad network like Adsense? Are you doing affiliate marketing? Are you earning well with affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing has not worked for me. Adsense is also not working either. However, I do not have other monetization options.

This is a good discussion, Adblock KILL Profits. We have clients that get paid by impressions or clicks and if the ads don't show well then they don't get paid. The problem is that we have so many scammers on the internet that use ads to get people to download malware. Having Adblock is a must have for every computer now. Something has to be done maybe change the kind of Adblock or develop one that scans ads to make sure no malware is evident and then it can decide whether to show the ad or not. If we could innovate Adblockers to do this instead of blocking every Ad we can make ads more profitable.

im in adblocker, but im also a webmaster
i know this problem, will impact your income
you can use a simple javascrpt noticer, if visitor open your site with adblocker will showup a warning (block) burn until adblock is disabled

If you are using ad networks such as adsense, adblockers will take a toll on your website earnings. However, if your revenue source is affiliate ads or selling products, adblockers will not hamper you. If you are too depended on network ads than you might not earn much, however, if you are more into affiliate marketing, you might earn more.
