How Much Are You Worth? - How Can You Calculate This?

How much are you worth? - I guess most of us have thought about this a few times. How much am I worth? - How much can I charge? - What should I charge?

Some people will say;

"charge what you believe you are worth."

And others will say:

"whatever you feel comfortable charging."

That being said, some people will also say this:

"If you base your pricing on what you think others will accept instead of what you need/are worth, you're setting yourself up for failure."

So, what about you?

I personally never had any issues coming up with a decent price for my services and my time.. - But I do find it rather difficult nowadays. - Both 2015 and 2016 has brought me kind of bad results, and I haven't been able to do a good comeback from the bad experiences I've had, so this is obviously one of the reasons I've felt desperate at times.

Due to those feelings and the bad experiences I've had, I also lost "track of myself" so to speak. - Meaning, that I basically sold myself short. I "forgot" the real value of me and practically gave away my time for free. - It's tough to recover from something like that, so think about it before you start doing it yourself. - Spend a few minutes to think about your actual worth before you're setting up bargain prices. - Those prices might do you more harm than good in the long run.

I agree with you that this is tricky to work out and I often find it hard to price my services. That said I think that I offer good value for money while still being able to earn a living. I like offering quality services that are well priced without selling myself short.

Right now I am working on building up my authority, building my social networks and building up my website traffic. Once I have achieved these goals I will be able to charge a lot more than I do now.

You're spot on Lynne, definitely. However, once you've achieved your goals and you've built your social networks and traffic, you can obviously charge more than you do right now, but, your potential clients needs to be aware of the benefits too, otherwise they'll stay away, in case they find the services "too pricey" so to speak. - That being said, I have no doubts at all when it comes to you. You'll make it work no matter what comes in your way. I just know it

Well if i priced my services at what they would generally be worth, no one would buy them. There is too competitors that will price services for pennies, because those people could afford to live on a dollar a day.. not me! I live in an area where it is quite expensive. Surely there is no sales taxes but they get you elsewhere.

I price my services on what I believe the average price is, and then i mark it down to see if people would buy.. if they buy the service i keep it at the same price.

In general, that's a good approach Everett. To set your prices at one thing (what you believe it's worth) and then change it with time (increase or decrease the price). - However, due to the competitors, especially competitors from countries where you can basically live on $1 per day, makes it even harder for other freelancers to provide services. - So no matter how low you go, people will always be able to go lower than you. And potential clients will try to do it too.

It is tricky indeed, because as a seller you would like to earn more, but you are also aware of:
1. the competitors and their prices
2. the buyers' expectations
So you would need to strike a balance. It is important not to overprice your services or buyers would not buy form you, but at the same time you need to value yourself, your time and your skills. I think it is best to start a bit low until you gain more credibility and reputation. In time you can increase prices a bit.

I always say we are worth more than we are ever paid, the buyer needs it so low while we the sellers need it so high.But one must create a balanced because of the competitors or else one loses all.So bottom we are worth more than what we are paid.

Well, how much you are worth can't be calculated in money. Some people are worth billions of dollars, while they have no family, spending money and time in casinos, luxury, etc. while there are people not worth anything, but they still generate some amount of money, enough to keep families happy.

Honestly, I can't really calculate how much I am worth in terms of money for I know is that I have improved my skills as a freelancer and definitely charge higher now unlike before when I receive works from other clients in the business.

I think our expenses and the amount of time it takes for making those sales can answer this question. For example, you can see that some of the people who are worth the income knows how that works out. But freelancing is random. And here you don't have exact income prediction. So you have to be very careful of how you're handling this. I have made sure that changes in the income can be different for many among us. And we have to take this one gig and client at a time. So price can be variable in that context.

As a content provider for forums, I am at the mercy of the admin and owners. They determine the rate of earnings for me and I can't do anything about it because that is the rule. But if I would have my way, I want an increased rate since my output is of quality that deserve a higher rating than what I have now.
